Sunset Shores - Water's Edge Cottage #2

The property is truly right on the lake. The view is amazing. The lake is literally a few steps down the back deck. I love the rock edge to the lake. No sand to drag in. The fire pit with wood is fabulous. The dock is great. Our dog loved playing in the lake. Plenty of room for a dog tether while you are outside. The house itself isn't bad, but could use a little more care. The kitchen has a very small amount of counter space. Kitchen table could use refinishing. There is a sort of musty order inside. Bring some Febreeze, it helps. More lighting would help in the living room and bedrooms. Those rooms are small so maybe smaller furniture in the bedroom with the queen size bed. Really needs some sort of bed side table on both sides of the bed. Rooms are dark so lightening them up would help and probably replace the carpeting. That might help with the musty smell also.

Overall the property was lovely. The views were beautiful. Great sunsets. Small but quaint. Lovely setting. However, there were several issues that were due to the written description and instructions. For example, the instructions said put the dishes in the dishwasher before you leave but there was no dishwasher. The starting packet had dishwasher tablet and tablet for washing machine but neither existed. We had to prop the windows open with the toilet brush. Not all the electrical outlets worked and not all the fans worked. We were grateful it cooled off at night to make sleeping easier. We met one of the owners and he seemed very nice and friendly.

The location on the lake was awesome. The space was much smaller than appeared in photos, No extra blanket for the sofa sleeper, only sheets. Only one small kitchen towel and not enough toilet paper for a 2 day stay for 5 people.

The view on the water is amazing. The beds were comfy. It’s tiny! No A/C. And overall kind of barebones, not even coffee grounds which is unusual. It felt a little dirty but overall we needed a last minute place to book that allowed pets and it worked out just fine.

Deck overlooking the lake was stunning. Very airy with windows and doors open. Same Van Gogh print on living room wall and kitchen - nice touch! I don't want to be too negative as there was not a review posted yet for the property, but the photos and description were also a bit short. This property is in a cluster of other vacation properties - the residents of the other properties seemed to all know each other and we - wife, adult daughter, and me - felt like interlopers. The shared amenities listed like fire pit and dock were pretty much taken over by these folks, who were not friendly and did not respond to our smiles and greetings. Since no AC and the weather was warm, our windows remained open at all times - thus, the shrieking of children began at 6:30 each morning and continued all day long. No escape. Bedrooms so small they barely contained the beds. Coffee maker took 30 minutes to make a pot - mineral build up in water tubing? Wi-Fi only worked for a couple hours on Day 1.
